Baltic Cider at the Australian Latvian Cultural Days in Adelaide
Following its first visit to Australia in October, with events in Melbourne and Sydney, Baltic Cider is heading to Adelaide to take part in the 60th Australian Latvian Cultural Days, taking place from 26–31 December.
Baltic Cider will be represented by Krišjānis Putniņš, owner of Mūrbūdu Cidery — an Australian-born Latvian who grew up in Adelaide and is now returning with great pleasure to share a small taste of Latvia: authentic apple cider made from Latvian apples.
The Australian Latvian Cultural Days is a long-standing festival organised by the Latvian community in Australia since 1951. The event rotates among major cities with Latvian communities, including Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. Its programme traditionally features concerts, theatre and folk-dance performances, exhibitions, choir performances, social gatherings, and other cultural events — all aimed at preserving and celebrating Latvian language, culture, and traditions within the diaspora. The event is expected to attract around 400 participants, mostly members of the Latvian diaspora.
Visitors will have the opportunity to taste ciders from four Baltic Cider producers:
Mūrbūdu Cidery:
• Semi-sweet apple & chokeberry cider – gentle, with a light berry note and a balanced sweetness
• Classic semi-dry apple cider – clean, refreshing apple flavour with no added ingredients
• Hopped apple cider – aromatic, with floral and light citrus notes and a fresh, slightly spicy finish
- Yarlington Mill / Wild Apples 2024. A sparkling, medium-sweet cider with a pronounced natural apple flavour, combining bittersweet cider apples with the fresh acidity of wild apples from the Kurzeme region.
- Gardener’s Sweet Apple & Quince Cider. A smooth, gently sweet cider where apple flavours are complemented by quince’s subtle tartness, adding freshness and an elegant aroma.
- POPP Non-Alcoholic Cider. A medium-sweet, lightly sparkling non-alcoholic cider made from organic apple juice with pineapple notes, offering a fresh and refreshing taste.
