A new Baltic & Finnish Cider Guide introduces the craft cider producers, distinctive apple varieties and cider-making traditions of Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Finland. The publication highlights the region’s unique cider styles, local terroir and growing potential in international markets.
The Baltic & Finnish Cider Guide presents the development and distinctive characteristics of craft cider in the Baltic and Nordic region. It explores the history of cider-making, production methods, cider styles and tasting practices, alongside recommendations for food pairings.
The guide showcases traditional and modern apple varieties, examines how climate, soils and orchard management shape cider quality, and highlights ongoing scientific research into Baltic cider terroir. It also introduces regional cideries and their visitor experiences, promoting authentic local products and the region’s emerging identity as a craft cider destination.
The publication was produced as part of the Interreg Central Baltic Programme 2021–2027 project “Exports of the Baltic and Finnish Craft Ciders to Australia,” co-funded by the European Union.
