Sodo Cidery

Sodo sidrinė is the orchard based cidery in Lithuania.

The unique local cider identity is being created by growing and processing the selected mix of traditional dessert and cider apples.

Our Story

Donatas cider journey started in 2007 while traveling in Normandy. It was an inspiration to start making craft cider in Lithuania which is abundant with apple orchards and where every household grows an apple tree. Brewmaster Ramūnas joined this production adventure from the very first batch. After experiments with local dessert and wild apples the first own orchard of traditional English cider apples was planted in 2014. Today we are the orchard based cidery surrounded by 13 hectares of apple trees.

Apples

We grow more than 30 different apple varieties, 20 of which are traditional English and French cider apples. The biggest part of our dessert apples is Auksis – the most popular local variety that was developed in Lithuania. As part of our orchards are still young, we also use the apples of our neighbors.

Ciders

We believe that the most important components of our craft are the terroir, the apples and the production method. We always know which apple varieties go to our ciders, and how, and where they were grown. This helped us to create the international award winning completely natural sparkling keeved ciders with preserved residual sweetness, as well as the dry single variety barrel aged ciders, or the modern fruit and botanical ciders. When winter is cold enough, we also make the Ice cider.

For Visitors

Prebooked groups or individual travelers are welcome to enjoy our orchards, visit our cidery and have a tasting of our ciders. Those who would like to know more about the beautiful world of cider are invited to book a 2-hour educational tasting. Donatas is a Certified Pommelier and he will guide you from the apple tree to your glass plunging into the world of diverse apple varieties, distinct cider styles, cider making methods and the cider culture in different cider regions around the world. Everybody is invited to celebrate together the annual Apple Blossom Festival which takes place in the Old Orchard in May or join the Harvest Weekend when we pick apples in October.
